Manifest Position

Meditation Thought: “In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard for his godly fear.” (Hebrews 5:7)

Jesus willingly laid aside the power of His position, that He might bring man back into his position as righteous child of righteous God.

In His chosen state of humility, Jesus was as vulnerable as I to the tortures of the mind, the emotions, the flesh. It is the very knowledge that He had no more strength than I have that makes it possible for me to believe that I can succeed in learning obedience and knowledge, as He did. And that to the extent that I learn the quality of obedience and knowledge that He did in the flesh, to that extent is the Father able to do His works in me and through me., to that extent does the world recognize the Truth: Jesus is our salvation, Jesus is our hope, Jesus is our power, Jesus is our joy.

Prayer of response: My Father, thank you for conceiving and giving birth to Jesus on earth. Jesus , thank you for obeying your Father’s request to save His children from their sins, and reconcile them to Himself. Holy Spirit, come dwell with me, teaching me the will of the Father, the path of obedience, giving me the power to walk it surely, that I may be a delight to my Father, to my Brother, to You, to all who know me – and yes, to myself! In Jesus’ precious name, and by Jesus’ power released by obedience unto death and salvation by my faith in this Truth, do I petition Thee, Trinity, to manifest thy glory through me as Thy wilt.

The Place Prepared

Meditation thought: “I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.” (Matthew 25:35-36)

“I go to prepare a place for you so that where I am, there you may be also.”

Do you know now that I am with the thirsty, the stranger, the naked, the sick, the imprisoned?

I came to take you – by your indication you desire to follow me, I know the time has come to beckon you to the place I have prepared for you: that place is anywhere there is a need which you can ease. You did not expect this was the place I prepare for you. But it is so – where can you be conformed to my image which is the image of the Father, if not in the places where Iove, compassion, understanding, caring, mercy, forgiveness and generosity, righteousness and Truth are taught?

I am wherever you need me to be to teach you the purpose and meaning of your life.

Do not be reluctant to move to where you see me go. Only by keeping the Holy Spirit dwelling within you will you know where I am, and whither you must go. He spotlights the place where I am, dispelling the darkness of the demanding world.

Delight in the knowledge that excitement and fulfillment shall fill your hours as you follow me; if the world has so much to teach, do you not realize that the Spirit overwhelms the world?

Move into each moment as an adventure in faith: a revelation of the meaning of all of creation: the tiny baby’s smile and the grandeur of the mountain both declare the glory of God.

Pray in the Spirit, speak in the Spirit, act in the Spirit, come to me in the Spirit: clothe your spirit in the Spirit as you clothe your body. As you put an arm in a sleeve, put your mind in the Spirit through the Word; as you fasten a garment around you, fasten your heart to the Spirit in prayer; as you pick up your purse which has the items you need to carry out the duties of the day, pick up the nuances of the Spirit – analyze circumstances, words placed in your path, people and all that they reveal.

Turn to conscious awareness of the needs of the moment and concentrate on fulfilling those needs. This is the place which I have prepared for you. I seek to take you there: will you come – trusting me?”

Prayer of response: Dear Lord Jesus, yes – I will come. Part of me is excited and eager, knowing that no moment will be dull – and part of me is frightened, knowing that much will be demanded if I am to be conformed to you. But I have no choice, not really.

I have learned too much now to want to slide back into ignorance – to be ignorant is to be a pawn to be buffeted by every spirit, by every circumstance.

But to grow in faith and trust and knowledge of the Holy Father, the Holy Son, the Holy Trinity: this is to still be movable – but allow the moving to be a conscious decision of trusting the ones doing the moving are doing it in your good interest.

Yes, I seek to come to where you are desiring me to be. Teach me, guide me, move me. In your precious name I pray. Amen.

Cultivate the Realm of the Spirit

Meditation thought: “For we share in Christ, if only we hold our first confidence to the end.” (Hebrews 3:14)

Stand firm against anyone and anything which would rob you of your first enthusiasm,, your first commitment, your first enlightenment.

You know that new enthusiasms are exciting, new commitments are easy, new enlightenment a delight. If these take place in ordinary affairs of life, how much more true they take place when they relate to God’s call upon you, and your response to God.

Do not allow your enthusiasm to wane, do not yield to pressure, do not return to old ways of living in darkness.

When fear, feelings, lassitude, and contrariness of your will would bind you from your high calling and purpose – kneel in prayer, shout out in praise, do good works, search the Word! If you desire the fruits of the Spirit, you must cultivate the realm of the Spirit.

Do not sit in your worldly place, expecting great Spiritual manifestations to seek you out – but seek the place the Spirit waits for you – is it the lonely one, the bereaved one, the hurt one, the frightened one, the sad one, the unloved one?

Look into the eyes of those you meet – and let your sight go right down into their heart: their hopes, their dreams, their feelings, their needs.

You have seen the x-ray of their heart: now consult the Great Physician who dwells with you that you may carry out His instructions to heal the patient before you.

Illness is intended to be but a vehicle to give glory to the Father as he heals, revealing Himself in the process. Illness is not intended as a permanent state. It is an opportunity for growth of knowledge, wisdom, of meaning – of the closeness of Created to Creator. It is to be an interlude – an interruption of the normal pressures that attention focused on something new – seek new insights, new paths, new places.

The process of seeking healing, whether by the ill or the ones trying to effect a cure, is the process that facilitates the Father’s work in all involved.

Be a good patient, be a good nurse. Both situations will teach you much about who you are, who your father is, and who all creatures are.

Waste not a moment in fretting, regretting, and balking.

There is much to do, much to learn – and much in which to rejoice.

Open wide your eyes,
Even wider your heart
To see Truth clearly,
And minister lovingly.
What seemed small and dull
Will be revealed as grand and radiant:
The tiniest portion of life
Will capture your imagination,
And reveal a new world never suspected.
Glory shall reveal new glory
Delight new delight,
Through the tiny hole of your broken pride
You shall see into a vista –
Shining, beautiful, magnificent.
Just to know it is there
Changes all you knew before,
Others cannot see through your opening,
For you block the way;
it is yours alone to use.
Let this glimpse work in you,
Conforming you to He who showed you that view:
And so shall your thoughts, your words, your deeds,
Inspire a search by those who wish to find
The vista that has reformed the clay,
Shaping it anew
Into a vessel pleasing to them, serving them well.
They seek to know the miracle: life born anew – not a new birth,
But a matured creature
Infused with new Blood,
Which nourishes and enhances all that was before.

Dazzle as Sunlight

Meditation Thought: “For it was fitting that he for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through suffering. For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified have all one origin… Therefore he had to be made like his brethren in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God to make expiation for the sins of the people.” (Hebrews 1-11, 17)

We have strayed far away from home, so far from where our Father lives, that we have allowed ourselves to be distracted from His influence. But He has sent One to dwell with us to remind us of His desires for us – His hopes for us – His loving care and guidance, so greatly desiring is He of bringing us back into fellowship and into a loving relationship, that He sacrifices His own self that we might gain.

How touched we are when someone gives of themselves that me might gain!

When will we realize that this Father who created us has given of Himself to the fullest extent? – above all others, in all time?

Should not our hearts soften, should not we respond in gratitude that we no longer face death, that we no longer face fear, nor want, nor despair except for a brief moment of contemplation, of choice? Once we affirm through our faith that God has reached out to us in the flesh, as well as in Spirit and in Word, then all of the protection ever needed is provided – all that we need for a purposeful, fulfilling, joyous, peaceful life is ours.

We merely ask for it, and it is within our grasp. If we truly believed what we read in the Word, and proclaim in our worship, we would dazzle as sunlight on a gloomy world.

The heavens declare
the glory of God,
And kindness declares His love.
The hard shell of withdrawn hurts
softens with murmurs
of comfort
of hope
of help.
And blossoming faith from that melted shell
Is a flower, lovely and fair
With the fragrance
Of a crushed self-will
Perfuming the air
And declaring to all
That God Himself draws near.

Righteousness and Gladness

Meditation Thought: “Thou hast loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; therefore God, thy God, has anointed thee with the oil of gladness beyond thy comrades.” (Hebrews 1:9)

Christ is the image of the Father; you are to be the image of Christ.

Do you know the one who you are to contour yourself to? One who loves righteousness so much that He is anointed with the oil of gladness.

Note that gladness does not follow those who covet, nor acquire, nor conquer, nor lead, nor love position, nor are beautiful, nor artistic – people may have some of the desirable qualities and also have gladness – but the gladness comes to those who love righteousness.

If you love righteousness you seek it – you “promote” it, you base your life on this principle.

If you are righteous, you are glad: note that being righteous is not being stuffy, intolerant, insufferable, or overbearing, but glad. It is the joy of gladness which is the attraction of others to you – when they know you well enough to determine that your joyful gladness is a result of righteousness and love of God, who is perfect righteousness, then they are ready to hear your witness to the Truth.

Do not act on your own authority: only when you are filled by the Spirit, acting in response to the Spirit, and seeking to please the Spirit can you do the Fathers will and work, can you be righteous, can you imitate Christ.

When you succeed in imitating Christ in your righteousness, you shall also be a light unto the world in your gladness.

These things are required of you if you are to fulfill this purpose: love of God, discipline, commitment, yielding to the Spirit, and strict adherence to righteousness – not as a duty, but as a joy, knowing that righteousness is the food that nourishes your spirit, as a good diet nourishes your body. Enjoy being righteous , set your will to like what is good for you. Your reward will be great.

Remember you can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth you.

Serve in Power

Meditation Thought: “He who is greatest among you shall be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. (Matthew 23:11)

The Holy Spirit serves as the vital heart to your spirit – as your body depends upon the flow of blood pumped by your heart, so your spirit depends upon the power generated by the Holy Spirit.

Keep a healthy flow of power by welcoming the Holy Spirit in every area of your life: see, hear, speak the Word. Serve. Love. Reconcile. Forgive. Be gracious. Be kind. Do good. Receive with thanksgiving. Praise with enthusiasm and a glad heart.

Always seek to rest in the Spirit – if you abide in the Spirit, you are in the Spirit’s flow of power, which is infinitely greater than your own power.

Keep a pure heart: all else can be corrected if you misunderstand and misdirect your life – but your pure heart is the vital organ needed to let the Spirit be effective in your life.

Look not at people, at circumstances, at the world; look to the Word and the Spirit, and this compass keeps you on the right path to do the Father’s will and works.

There will be pain – and pleasure; there will be disappointment – and victory. But you never need feel guilty, never need to be downhearted, never need to give up hope: for your strength and your joy lie in serving your Lord and He shall never disappoint you if you trust Him.

Serving – especially when it is not expected – works effectively in spirits and minds, to break up the hardness of hearts that the Holy Spirit may enter. Envision your delight and gratitude to receive – especially unexpected ministerings – that you may more effectively serve others.

Over and over and over, does the Word and the Spirit confirm that with the measure you give, with that measure you shall receive.

And have you not been promised that your life is to be abundant?

Learn how to expand your measure – you do this through the leading of the Spirit according to the word.

All things do work together for good to those who love God, to them who are called according tho His purpose.

Know Me as I Know You

“the promise of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.” (2 Samuel 22:31)

I would gather you as a hen gathers her chicks – only turn toward Me, and come into my welcoming arms – I long to shield you from harm, to warm you from the coldness of the world, to comfort all your hurts; you can grow and mature right within the confines of Myself – it is the only place where you can grow and mature at your fastest and best.

Do not seek your peace, your purpose, your joy outside the confines of My Spirit. This will only frustrate you and thwart My will for your best good.

You are My chosen, beloved; I seek to manifest My love to you: open your eyes and your heart to understand and to perceive My expressions of love.

See Me in your family and friends.

Hear Me in the Word.

Feel Me in the baby’s touch.

Taste Me in the food provided for your health.

Smell Me in the flower’s perfume.

But, most of all, know Me in your spirit, come to know Me as I know you.

The clues are in your life. Time bids you to hurry on, not a moment of regret need pass over you if you desire to find Me, know Me, love Me, dwell with Me.
