Meditation Thought: “But all this I laid to heart, examining it all, how the righteous and the wise and their deeds are in the hand of God…. Go, eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a merry heart, for God has already approved what you do. (Ecclesiastes 9:1,7)
To be righteous and wise is to be within God’s will, and to be within His care, His ministry, His guidance, His help, and to have His approval of one’s deeds.
If all of this is true, then there is no cause for fear or regret or worry, and one can enjoy the pleasures of life without any nagging doubts to spoil them. There may be times when the circumstances are such that the meal cannot be a happy celebration, but these times will not be often. And no meal is a happy celebration when the conscience is uneasy: to be righteous and wise is to ensure that there will be some meals of happy celebration – to be remembered, to be enjoyed in the present, to be anticipated.
