Meditation Thought: “No distrust made him [Abraham] waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised.” (Romans 4:20-21)
Abraham believed God despite the incredulous aspect of the promise, and he gave glory to God – gave credit and trust before the promise was fulfilled. In doing so, he became more and more convinced that the promise would be fulfilled. And his conviction was a bond between himself and God: it cemented their relationship even more firmly.
This is the desired pattern for all – it is the formula for God’s desires being manifested as miracles on earth.
First we must come to seek God, then to know Him, then to believe Him, then to trust Him, then to obey Him, all the time glorifying Him. Some, such as Abraham, display such enormous works done by God through them that they awe the world. But each child of God can have a life changed, as was Abraham’s, whether it is known by others or not.
And the covenant relationship, the close communion, the changing of focus from self to God all transform each believer from what we are in sin to what we are in Christ. The difference is as contrasting as is darkness from light, ignorance from knowledge or despair from hope.
