The Place Prepared

Meditation thought: “I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.” (Matthew 25:35-36)

“I go to prepare a place for you so that where I am, there you may be also.”

Do you know now that I am with the thirsty, the stranger, the naked, the sick, the imprisoned?

I came to take you – by your indication you desire to follow me, I know the time has come to beckon you to the place I have prepared for you: that place is anywhere there is a need which you can ease. You did not expect this was the place I prepare for you. But it is so – where can you be conformed to my image which is the image of the Father, if not in the places where Iove, compassion, understanding, caring, mercy, forgiveness and generosity, righteousness and Truth are taught?

I am wherever you need me to be to teach you the purpose and meaning of your life.

Do not be reluctant to move to where you see me go. Only by keeping the Holy Spirit dwelling within you will you know where I am, and whither you must go. He spotlights the place where I am, dispelling the darkness of the demanding world.

Delight in the knowledge that excitement and fulfillment shall fill your hours as you follow me; if the world has so much to teach, do you not realize that the Spirit overwhelms the world?

Move into each moment as an adventure in faith: a revelation of the meaning of all of creation: the tiny baby’s smile and the grandeur of the mountain both declare the glory of God.

Pray in the Spirit, speak in the Spirit, act in the Spirit, come to me in the Spirit: clothe your spirit in the Spirit as you clothe your body. As you put an arm in a sleeve, put your mind in the Spirit through the Word; as you fasten a garment around you, fasten your heart to the Spirit in prayer; as you pick up your purse which has the items you need to carry out the duties of the day, pick up the nuances of the Spirit – analyze circumstances, words placed in your path, people and all that they reveal.

Turn to conscious awareness of the needs of the moment and concentrate on fulfilling those needs. This is the place which I have prepared for you. I seek to take you there: will you come – trusting me?”

Prayer of response: Dear Lord Jesus, yes – I will come. Part of me is excited and eager, knowing that no moment will be dull – and part of me is frightened, knowing that much will be demanded if I am to be conformed to you. But I have no choice, not really.

I have learned too much now to want to slide back into ignorance – to be ignorant is to be a pawn to be buffeted by every spirit, by every circumstance.

But to grow in faith and trust and knowledge of the Holy Father, the Holy Son, the Holy Trinity: this is to still be movable – but allow the moving to be a conscious decision of trusting the ones doing the moving are doing it in your good interest.

Yes, I seek to come to where you are desiring me to be. Teach me, guide me, move me. In your precious name I pray. Amen.
